Kamijou is the captain of the basketball team and is the guy that Kayano had a crush on in the beginning of the series. She wrote a confession letter to him, but accidentally gave it to Takeru instead. From the very beginning, Kamijou treated Kayano with respect and kindness, which was why she was attracted to him. Essentially, he is the "nice guy" in comparison to Takeru's "bad boy" image.

Kamijou is pretty easy going and seems to be a very normal guy (in comparison to the rest of the colourful cast). However, he's not perfect and does have a bit of a temper when provoked. Kayano discovered this first hand and was slightly scared of him, but he would never purposely hurt anyone. He liked Kayano and when he found out that she no longer liked him, he was justifiably upset, but being the nice guy, he forgives her. Later on, he develops a relationship with Kyoko.

Kamijou sees the best in people and even though he disliked Takeru in the beginning, he observed and gained valuable insight in Takeru's personality. He realizes how mature Takeru is and he's the one who informed Kayano to give her support. He also has a shy side to him as well and doesn't publicly announce his feelings. He gets teased by his friends for being a pushover.

In the series, Kamijou does get overshadowed by Takeru, but he gained happiness and earned the affections of a beautiful woman, proving that nice guys don't finish last.
